The TC Energy Center, located at 700 Louisiana St, Suite 1700, Houston, TX 77002, is a 1.5 million-square-foot, 56-story trophy office tower in the heart of Downtown Houston. Designed by the renowned architects Philip Johnson and John Burgee, the building is a stunning example of postmodern architecture with its distinctive neo-Gothic, gabled roofline that has become an iconic part of the Houston skyline. The gorgeous lobby is equipped with an InforCenter Touch Screen Digital Building Directory Kiosk, allowing visitors easy access to an interactive tenant directory, people directory, real-time traffic and weather updates, local amenities, and property management contacts. A convenient QR code provides instant access to the Virtual Building Directory via smartphone, with no app required. An adjacent 12-story banking hall, currently being modernized to include amenity space and creative offices, complements the tower's grandeur. The building's exterior and interior are clad in Napoleon red granite, quarried in Sweden and finished in Italy. This same stone extends to the surrounding sidewalks, creating a cohesive design that adds to the property’s striking appearance. Visitors entering from Louisiana Street are greeted by an impressive 75-foot-high, arched granite doorway, an intricate masterpiece assembled with over 100 pieces of stone, installed by specialized craftsmen from Spain. The arch continues through the building, creating a dramatic, open space with pedestrian bridges connecting three lower tower floors. The TC Energy Center is not only architecturally significant but also rich in amenities all listed on the InforCenter Touch Screen Digital Building Directory Kiosk. A range of on-site conveniences, including a Starbucks Coffee Bar, Murphy’s Deli, and Glamour Newsstand and Sundry Shop, provide daily necessities for tenants. The building is also in close proximity to numerous restaurants, hotels, and entertainment venues in Houston's Theater District, such as Jones Hall and the Alley Theatre all located on the Interactive Lobby Directory Amenities Map. The landlord has completed Phase I of a major renovation, which introduced a full-service restaurant in the lobby’s former Western Union building. Phase II, currently underway, includes converting the former banking hall into modern tenant lounges, a conference center, and creative office spaces. Full-height windows will bring abundant natural light into these areas, further enhancing the tenant experience. A new tenant-exclusive fitness center is being built in the Western Union building, accessible via a private elevator from the lobby. The facility will feature state-of-the-art equipment, locker rooms, showers, and towel service. Additionally, the Otis Compass Plus destination dispatch system is being installed in all office elevator banks to increase efficiency and reduce energy usage. Nearby, the Lynn Wyatt Square for the Performing Arts (formerly Jones Plaza) is undergoing renovations to become a vibrant, visitor-friendly outdoor space, featuring a restaurant and entertainment areas. Sustainability Initiatives The TC Energy Center is LEED Gold certified and utilizes 100% renewable energy certificates. Sustainability practices include high-efficiency water fixtures, saving 3 million gallons annually, and an extensive recycling program covering materials like paper, glass, aluminum, and electronics. Location and Accessibility The TC Energy Center is situated in Houston’s prestigious Theater District, offering direct access to major highways, including Memorial and Allen Parkway, making commutes in and out of downtown convenient. The building is within walking distance of Houston’s cultural landmarks, including Bayou Place, Wortham Center, and the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts. Parking The TC Energy Center offers a variety of parking options, including hands-free toll tag access in the building’s garage. There is ample visitor parking, VIP spaces, and nearby garage facilities connected through Houston’s downtown tunnel system. Monthly contract parking is available in adjacent garages, including those at Jones Plaza and Bayou Place. Ownership and History The TC Energy Center, originally completed in 1983 as the RepublicBank Center, has undergone several name changes over the years. Today, it is owned by a joint venture of M-M Properties and an affiliate of the General Electric Pension Trust. The tower is home to TC Energy’s U.S. headquarters, which became the building's largest tenant when it was renamed in 2019. The property’s historic banking center is housed separately due to construction challenges during development, but the main lobby boasts a stunning art gallery featuring curated exhibitions. This remarkable skyscraper remains one of Houston’s premier office buildings, combining architectural elegance, modern amenities, and sustainability to create a first-class working environment.
